<image:title>Blog - Behold the Banksia - Gardening Australia Magazine Archives - The Swamp Banksia, pictured here growing in a SE Qld indigneous garden</image:title>
<image:caption>This species grows up the Australia east coast, from central NSW to far north Qld. It is a species not only tolerant, but in need, of a consistent supply of water. If you’ve wet and boggy soils at home and you want a banksia in your garden, this is the species for you! The big, structural foliage and green to black flowers are standouts in the garden. There’s a dwarf form available at specialist nurseries and a purple leaf form, too.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Call it what you will: Bush Much. Arb Mulch. Tree Mulch. Many arboricultural companies take their tree waste to local garden supplies to be sold as garden mulch. It’s great stuff! And often the cheapest. Many think that because the plant matter is still green it’s not a good product. This isn’t the case, it doesn’t have adverse effects on our plants.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This row of G. lanigera ‘Mt Tamboritha' were planted on the edge of the Lily Pilly tree canopy. Growing anything under a Lily Pilly tree is notoriously challenging (note: Lomandra ‘Tanika’ and Correa reflexa x decumbens succeeded). These plants were fed with a pelletised organic fertiliser a few times a year to give them a boost and they responded famously each time.</image:caption>
